What is life? It is the flash of a firefly in the night. It is the breath of a buffalo in the wintertime. It is the little shadow which runs across the grass and loses itself in the sunset. ~ Blackfoot proverb
From sea to shining sea. That’s what the song says, and so it is. First time travelers to the USA are often surprised by its vastness. To visit only the coastal areas is to miss the heartlands: the Great Plains, the mighty Mississippi river, the Grand Canyon. Can a traveler say he has been to the USA if he’s only seen New York City? Or Los Angeles? The country changes culturally from region to region and often from one neighborhood abutting another neighborhood. The accents, the food, even the music you dance to will change depending on where you are in this land. The best way to travel this country? A road trip. You could spend a lifetime on its roads and never see every one of them. But it’s worth a try!
